⚡ How Vending Machine Controller (VMC) Boards Actually Work

A real-world automated vending machine or smart warehouse locker runs on a dedicated VMC (Vending Machine Controller) board. Here is the exact hardware flow and how our software connects to it:

1. Master Controller & MDB Bus

The central MCU (STM32 / ESP32 / Raspberry Pi) runs the MDB/ICP (Multi-Drop Bus / Internal Communication Protocol). It handles payment peripherals, keypads, and touchscreens.

● Status: MDB Communication Synchronized

2. Relay & Motor Drivers (MOSFETs)

When this software verifies the password (by voice or PIN), it signals the motor driver IC (e.g. ULN2803 / L298N) to turn the 24V spiral coil motor for the corresponding shelf.

● Status: Motor Relays 1-6 Ready

3. Optical Drop Sensors (IR Beam)

An infrared light curtain across the bottom delivery tray verifies whether the item physically dropped. Only after the IR beam breaks does the software finalize stock deduction!

● Status: Drop Sensor Aligned

4. Inventory & Telemetry Gateway

The board streams dispense timestamps, operator voice logs, and quantity counters to our cloud / local Node.js database, triggering low stock alerts automatically.

● Status: Real-time Telemetry Active
